Help users understand various inputs, and help them avoid and correct mistakes.

Labels and instructions

• Use clear labels (not just placeholders)
• Add helpful instructions where needed
• Group related fields logically

Example:

✓ Label: “Password” Help text: “8+ characters with 1 number” 


✗ Placeholder only: “Enter password…”

Error handling

• Show errors clearly (not just in color)
• Explain how to fix mistakes
• Let users check before submitting

Example: 


✓ “Password must be at least 8 characters (currently 6)” 


✗ Just turning the field red

Special elements

• Use CAPTCHA only if necessary
• Provide audio alternatives
• Let users verify all information
